Half the fun of traveling? It’s the fabulous outfits, of course! And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. There’s something thrilling about curating a wardrobe that not only complements your destination but turns each day into a mini runway show—especially in a city as vibrant as Barcelona. While packing might seem like a chore, I’ve honed a process (which I share on YouTube!) that takes the stress out of it, making room for more creativity and self-expression. Spoiler alert: minimalism isn’t my thing. Neutrals and pared-back pieces? Not on this trip. Travel is an adventure in style for me, and I embrace it fully with bold prints, bright colors, eye-catching accessories, and all things maximalism. After all, isn’t that part of the magic? So, here’s a peek into my Barcelona wardrobe—outfits that kept me feeling fabulous while soaking in the city’s unique spirit.
Maximalist Fashion Travel
My top recommendation is to build your travel wardrobe around a few key Statement Pieces First. Think printed kimonos, bold prints and colors, chain gold belt or a show-stopping dress. From there you can add in supporting pieces and accessories that can be styled various ways so you don’t feel boring or basic on your vacation.
Take my vintage red dress for example. It delivers on both bold color but the fabulous buttons add that special flair so I really don’t need to add much else to the outfit.
Don’t sacrifice comfort for style, which is why I rarely travel with heels. I prefer low profile sneakers and flat sandals that are both comfortable and bold enough to stand out. This trip, I invested in these chunky sandals that feel like sneakers but deliver as a more stylish option.
Stylish Travel Outfits
I brought 3 bags with me that I knew would be practical and help deliver on style: Vera Bradley crossbody, Chanel belt bag and crochet bag. I used all three of the bags throughout the trip and they helped add color or that bold statement I love with my outfits.
Another recommendation is to pack accessories that transform basic outfits into maximalist looks. Statement earrings, layered necklaces, and oversized sunglasses add flair but don’t take up too much suitcase space. Thanks to the humidity I ended up wearing my hair in a slick back bun most days and the earrings where the right choice!
