Today I want to take the opportunity to wish you all a warm, loving, and happy holiday. The holidays always seems to come and go so quickly, before I’m able to enjoy all of the moments the season brings: the sweet scents of fresh baked cookies, perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree, the loud laughter that lightens up the dinner table, and the tender moments between loved ones. I wish I had a box that could capture every single moment that I could open up when I’m not feeling so happy to bring back all of these perfect moments.
This year has brought much joy – finding out I’m going to be an Auntie to two nieces in the coming month, getting engaged to an amazing man that I love with my whole heart, and sharing in the happiness at my good friend’s wedding. The year also brought some heartache – the loss of my closest Uncle, months of unnecessary stress and anguish at work, realizing that Kennedy is not a young pup anymore and is now more than double my age (in dog years), and the tragedy in Newtown. These wonderful and immensely sad moments are a constant reminder of how vulnerable we are, but it also makes us strong and determined. I know it is a bit of a cliche, but I wholeheartedly believe it. Christmastime reminds me of all of these big and small and happy and sad moments; it allows me to reflect on the year that is coming to an end. Despite the number of happy or sad moments, I know that I am blessed with a loving and healthy family which means the most to me.
This year, no matter your faith, I hope you’ll memorialize all of the moments in your life so you can revisit the good whenever you need a little pick-me-up. I also hope that your holiday is filled with much love, laughter, and many happy moments. XO
