Thrill of the Thrift: Style Wax Poetic

Happy Friday friends! I’ve taken a bit of a break from my favorite series – Thrill of the Thrift – but I’m back with one of my favorite gals around!

Kristen is editor of Style Wax Poetic, a blog inspired by the romanticized notion of fashion being a true form of expression.  For Kristen, Wax Poetic is usually used to describe the melodic words in poetry or music, but fashion in its best form, can be just as fresh, melodic and transcending.  In addition to writing her blog, Kristen works in PR and represents some amazing companies that make a positive difference in the world like the International Princess Project. Kristen and I met through the LA blogosphere and quickly bonded because she’s beauty, brains, fashionable, and values companies making a difference in the world.

Kristen and I recently met up at Daily Dose, one of my fave brunch spots in the Arts District, and then headed out to Downtown LA’s best vintage shop around, Buttons & Bows, for some retail and vintage therapy.

After an afternoon of playing dress up and shopping, Kristen picked up a zero + maria cornejo romper and I found a baby pink Christian Dior puffer jacket (can it be winter already so I can wear it?).

I asked Kristen to share some her vintage and thrifting love to round out this edition of Thrill of the Thrift!

What is your favorite item to thrift?

I love finding old Levis 501 and distressed denim cut offs. They’re selling for $200 + and thrift stores have a plethora of options at less tan $30 in most cases.

What is your best vintage find ever?

Some of the best vintage pieces I own were from my friend Erin Weinger‘s pop-up sales Pretty Genius. Erin and and her business partner would scour LA & beyond for some of the best pieces, edit them to their liking and hold sales where customers like can go pick the fruits of their hard work.

What does thrill of the thrift mean to you?

Finding classic vintage pieces with personality at an affordable price. What could be better?  ( A Vintage Splendor agrees!)
