It’s National Margarita Day which means I’ll be enjoying an ice cold margarita today (sans alcohol). But you know I’ll be shaking up a cocktail for the Mister. One thing I’ve learned is that a DIY project should be followed with a good cocktail, so Alan will definitely get to enjoy some of that sweat equity tonight after knocking down a couple of walls. I love traditional margaritas, but I also like a good twist on a classic. The ruby red grapefruit juice adds just enough sweet to the tart lemon that makes a refreshing cocktail that can be enjoyed year round.
Pink Grapefruit Margarita:
1 Lime, cut in wedges
Sugar in the Raw
1/4 cup ruby red grapefruit juice
Juice from 1 lime
1/4 cup Peligroso Tequila
1 + 1/2 cup ice
Instructions: Rub lime around the edge of the glass and then dip the rim of glass lightly in a plate of sugar in the raw. Combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, tequila, and 1/2 cup ice in a cocktail shaker then strain into glass. Top with ice and lime wedge.
