Pass the Cake

With only 128 days until the wedding, Alan and I are currently in the midst of the best part of wedding planning….cake tasting.  For the record, I haven’t been counting the days (I promise); however, Crate and Barrel just sent me an email reminding me that I have 128 days left and we should move on our registry.  Now, back to cake tasting with a side of champagne.  Given our venue, Alan and I want to stay true to the art deco architecture of the building without going full blown Gatsby with the wedding.  We have decided to keep the overall decor for the wedding simple, but let our cake make an architectural statement.  Of course, we want our cake to be beautiful on the inside too so we’ll have two decadent flavors for our guests.  My favorite cake is vanilla with berries and almonds, while Alan loves the richer side of things and is hoping for a salted caramel, double chocolate extravaganza! We’re on tasting number 4 and have many more to go, even though we’re pretty sure we’re sticking with our first tasting. Yes, we’re maximizing the benefits of being engaged.
