One of the first major cooking and hostessing challenges I ever took on was hosting and preparing Thanksgiving dinner for my large family about 8 years ago. My Mom was so nervous about me taking on the whole meal, she prepped about 8 different appetizers just in case if I screwed things up. I didn’t screw up – quite the contrary – it was the best meal I had ever prepared! Since then, my family (close and extended) expect my delish turkey dinner.
Like years past, Alan and I are hosting dinner at our new home as a newly married couple! Since we’ve spent the last few months on project wedding, I decided to decorate for fall and prepared a simple, modern yet traditional Thanksgiving and fall table setting.
I pulled together pumpkins, gourds, and squash from Halloween and Trader Joes, plus added in some succulents from our back yard.
Since we’re having a lot of guests for dinner, I’m sticking to our white dinnerware (which is durable and we have a set of 16 for all of the guests). I bought this metallic weave napkin set and Alan picked out this flatware set.
Since I plan everything through for any party about 10 times, I tried a few setting options and decided upon this look. Alan loves a modern aesthetic as do I, but we wanted a traditional element – enter pumpkins!
Although we’re still finalizing details in our home (the perks of buying a fixer-upper!), here’s a peek at our dining room that is coming together slowly.
I hope I’ve inspired you to take on Thanksgiving and fall decor and get in the holiday spirit a bit early.
