This past year has been a whirlwind to say the least. With a home renovation and the birth of our first baby, Alan and I experienced some pretty amazing life changes this year. Having Alan by my side during the pregnancy, birth, and first months after having Harlee was such a help. Undergoing a home renovation up until the moment we arrived home with our new baby was quite stressful but Alan kept his cool and made sure I did as well. He’s really helped deliver a major dose of zen this year!
Another person who has made my life extraordinary this year (and probably doesn’t know it) is my niece Victoria. She’s only 3.5 years old but she’s put a smile on my face and Harlee’s face on an almost daily basis. When I was pregnant, she was the first to run up to me, hug me, and then kiss the baby (my belly). She would FaceTime me every day to ask how baby was doing and when she would get to meet her cousin. As soon as I was in labor, I called my sister and I told her to prep Victoria for the big day. When Harlee was born, Victoria teared up and was so happy to meet her little cousin. As Harlee is growing up, Victoria gives her the sweetest hugs and kisses. She is so gentle and thoughtful to her little cousin. When my sister runs to Target for a quick errand, Victoria wants to shop for Harlee. She buys her holiday cards, festive outfits, and cute little toys she knows Harlee will love. She still FaceTime’s us every day, even on the days we visit them, just to say hi to Harlee. I made up a cute rhyme for Harlee too soothe when she’s feeling fussy and she loves it. Guess who memorized it right away so she could sing it to Harlee as well? Yup, Victoria. Except, she has a full dance routine to go along with it and it makes Harlee crack up and so happy. It’s one of my favorite things to see.
To say the least, I want Victoria to know how extraordinary she’s made this year for both me and Harlee.
