My take on vintage is that it should work for you. If you see a piece but it’s just not right, as Tim Gunn says, “Make it work!” I saw this Albert Nipon dress online and loved it but the sleeves were too much even for a vintage loving girl like me. It was only $9 which is a steal for Albert Nipon, so I bought it. A quick trip to the tailor and I came home with a new skirt. The polka dot print and pleat detail were what I loved most about the dress, so I kept what I loved and got rid of the parts I didn’t like. I’m so happy with this piece as a skirt and wear it all the time (as you know I have a thing for statement skirts).
Do you ever like to reconstruct pieces to make them work for you?
