Modern Chinoiserie Nursery
I can’t believe baby girl will be here in 2 months! I’m working to get the nursery ready in time for her arrival. When it comes to decorating a nursery, I don’t like baby themed spaces that feature animals, alphabets or anything of the sort. If you recall, Harlee’s nursery had a colorful bohemian aesthetic and it was a happy space for her and us! It also allowed her to grow into the space and I think it helped her appreciate good design since she didn’t ask for Elsa or Moana bedding when it came time for her big girl room! For baby girl on the way, I decided to play with color with a nod to Chinoiserie. The centerpiece will be the Wendy Morrison Shanghai Blossom Rug which is currently in our living room. If you recall, I bought that rug for our bedroom and it didn’t quite work there nor the living room so I’m excited to give it a permanent and perfect home in the nursery! It’s going to look so beautiful and all of the beautiful details will be on full display.
With the overall aesthetic of the room decided, I started shopping well before the holidays and I found a great vintage dresser at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I knew right away that I would get the crib and glider from Babyletto which is the same brand we trusted with Harlee since their products are eco-conscious and sustainable.
With the big ticket items out of the way, my favorite part is accent pieces and artwork which I’ve been shopping for at thrift stores and the flea market. I just found a beautiful Japanese silk thread art at an antique store. It’s the perfect scale, color palette and features a beautiful bird and floral print and I can’t wait to hang it up above the dresser! I’m going to continue sourcing some special items to pull together the nursery and I hope to be done before mid-March!
