Los Angeles vintage shopping map and a giveaway? Yup, you read that right folks. I’ve partnered with Jeanee of Finely Crafted to bring 3 lucky winners the fabulous Los Angeles vintage shopping print. Not only is it a great resource (my favorite and secret spots are on the map), but it’s a great print to add to your gallery wall. Now more about the fancy brains behind the print.
Jeanee says the map idea came to her because when she visits an unfamiliar city, she likes to give herself a little project to help her explore it. She of course hits the big art museum, but she also wants to see some great vintage furniture and clothing, since she has a passion for thrifting. It occurred to her last year when she was planning an extended stay in LA that it would be fun to put her research to use by making an art print that documents all the best vintage boutiques and shows in a visual way, with icons that represent the spirit of the destinations and the city. I thought it would be a good business move too, since she noticed in her own shop that people love to buy city-centric things. Cindy Tomczyk of Paper Parasol Press, whose work Jeanee carryies, was the perfect illustrator to help her design the prints. Cindy has a cheerful, midcentury-inspired drawing style and shares Jeanee’s passion for mod pottery, diner signs, tiki mugs, etc. They warmed up with Jeanee’s stomping ground, Atlanta, then moved on to the more challenging LA!
To enter, just leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about vintage shopping. That’s it. The giveaway is open to U.S. Residents only and is open until Tuesday, June 24th. Good luck!
Congrats to winners: Megan, Rachel B, and Beth!
Such a cute map! Vintage shopping is fun – love finding cool treasures!
I like vintage shopping because you know that whatever you find will be unique and no one else will have it!
Thanks so much for sharing the map and all your LA shopping wisdom, Annette! Aha, I knew the print would look great against your stone wall!
My mom and I love vintage shopping to find unique goods that remind her of her childhood – I love seeing what people used to use in the kitchen or around the home, what they used to wear and what makeup used to be like! ( My mom and I recently found a makeup shop that recreates makeup products like they used to be – powder mascara). Just like a lot of homes, things are just not made like they used to be (unique form, quality materials, durability) and so I love finding things that are worthy of buying, have character and unique uses.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity…fingers crossed!
My favorite thing about vintage shopping is the history of the items and the treasures you can find.
My favorite thing about vintage shopping is finding vendors who are super knowledgable and passionate about their items. There is often a wealth of history and meaning behind every object. I love hearing stories of where items have been and how each individual vendor came to possess their treasures.
My favorite thing is having something no one else will have
I love the vibe that vintage has. It’s not something that everybody has, and it makes it special.
