If there’s one thing I’ll never get tired of hunting for, it’s the perfect pair of jeans. Denim trends are constantly evolving – high rise, low rise, baggy, wide-leg – but the right fit will always make you feel instantly put together. So I ordered (and tried on) a whole lineup of denim styles from Levi’s, FRAME, and Citizens of Humanity. Some were instant keepers, others… not so much. You may be thinking, “But Annette, don’t you already own 50 pairs of jeans?” Yes, I do! But, they fit neatly into two categories: vintage Levi’s and vintage trend/niche denim like Charlies Angels or Kenny Rogers brand. I need a great clean, yet slightly sloughy jean that I can wear daily with sneakers or sandals and feel great! Don’t miss my YouTube video for the full haul, try on notes and commentary!
Here’s the full haul, complete with fit notes and shoppable links so you can find your own perfect pair.
Best Low-Rise Jeans
Citizens of Humanity Lindz Low Rise Easy Straight Jeans – $268
Low-rise is officially back, and this pair nails the trend without going full Y2K. The relaxed, straight leg feels timeless, while the rigid denim gives it a true vintage vibe.
FRAME The Loose Jeans – $358
If you love oversized denim, this one’s for you. It’s low-slung and intentionally baggy, with a long, relaxed wide leg. Size down if you prefer something slightly less slouchy.
Levi’s Low Loose Jeans – $108
A Y2K-inspired fit with a low rise and straight, wide leg. They run a bit small, so I’d suggest sizing up for a comfortable fit. Available in washes like Tech Storm, Blasted Stone Clean, and Probably OK PSK.
Best Vintage-Inspired Classics
Levi’s 501 ‘90s Jeans – $98
The iconic 501 but with a looser ‘90s cut. Mid-rise, straight leg, and just the right amount of room through the hips and thighs. If you want them more fitted, size down.
Levi’s Baggy Dad Jeans – $108
The ultimate throwback style. Mid-rise, slouchy fit, and a straight leg that channels the effortless cool of the ‘90s. True to size for that relaxed vibe.
Best Wide-Leg Jeans
Levi’s Ribcage Wide Leg – $118
Levi’s Ribcage cut is famous for its super high rise, and this wide-leg version is no exception. Slim through the hips, with a dramatic leg opening that instantly elongates.
Levi’s Baggy Dad Barrel Jeans – $108
The baggy dad gets a modern update with a curved barrel leg. Mid-rise with roomy hips, this one makes a statement. Go down a size if you prefer a higher waist fit.
Best Relaxed & Baggy Fits
Levi’s XL Straight – $108
Oversized and relaxed, but with a cinchable waistband so you can adjust the rise. Slouchy but versatile—style them low on the hips or cinched higher.
Levi’s Cinch Baggy Jeans – $108
High rise, wide legs, and adjustable back waist tabs that prevent gapping. Relaxed and baggy but with a polished, tailored feel.
Levi’s Cinch Baggy in Invested Indigo – $108
Same adjustable high-rise style in a deep indigo wash. This is the pair I loved so much, it made the “keep” pile.
The Denim I Kept
After trying on all the jeans, two pairs made the cut:
- Levi’s Cinch Baggy in Invested Indigo — for its perfect mix of vintage-inspired wash and customizable fit.
- Levi’s Low Loose in Blasted Stone Clean — because a clean, slouchy jean is basically a wardrobe staple.
✨ That’s the roundup! A mix of hits and misses, but I’ve linked everything so you can shop the ones that speak to you.
