Mixing vintage with new is consistently at the forefront of my personal style in my outfits and at home. I’m a firm believer that mixing a variety of trends, patterns, textures, and periods creates amazing style that is unique to the individual. I personally love mixing mid century modern, regency, and modern elements in my wardrobe and at home, but I’ve recently become obsessed with shabby chic bohemian living spaces. This look combination, when done right, seamlessly blends a variety of styles and it’s so good!
Shabby chic has been a decor focus for decades because of its timeless aesthetic. It adds effortless elegance to your home, without looking dated or too traditional. It works well with modern interiors by adding a soft touch of historical elements. I’ve recently been drawn to shabby chic bohemian because the two aesthetics work well together in their effortless and comfortable style, but are starkly different. While shabby chic is attributed to softer hues and texture, bohemian bring in bold and bright colors, patterns, and textiles. Bohemian adds the punch to the twee shabby chic, while the shabby chic softens up the visual feast that is bohemian; in the design world this is a perfect pairing.
Chairish reached out to me and asked that I share how I would bring shabby chic at home with some of my favorite pieces currently for sale.
