I live for the thrill of the thrift. Since I could remember, my Mom would take my sisters and I vintage shopping and would teach us how to navigate vintage shops and the best items to buy. Since then, I still love to scour thrift stores, antique shops, and vintage consignments. Most of my favorite items in my closet and home are items I found in one of these shops. I think it’s a blend of the story behind each item and the craftsmanship and detailing in each piece. Take this dress for instance. In its heyday in the 80s, I’m sure it enjoyed itself some fabulous parties sipping Long Island iced teas in postmodern homes before it was cast aside for stretch stirrup pants and oversized sweaters. I’m glad the dress made it through and now hangs prominently in my closet for lots of wear this summer.
