Last week while at MAGIC, I chatted up with beauty blogger Jamie of Queen of the Quarter Life Crisis about adult acne. I know it’s not the sexiest of topics, but I want to let you know about my story. I never had to deal with acne until my mid 20s. As soon as I hit 25 boom! my skin went from flawless to covered with cystic acne. I went to several dermatologists who all recommended that I undergo a treatment of accutane. Just reading the side effects of the medication freaked me out so I decided to skip it. I tried all the topical treatments my doctors prescribed and nothing helped. I was left with overly dry and red skin and I was still breaking out. I thought to myself every single day, “I’m too old for this!”
I finally decided to try an all-natural and less abrasive option for clearer skin. I decided to ask friends for their tips and must have products. At this point, I figured I would try everyone’s tips as one giant regimen for myself! After mixing and matching some recommendations, I finally found the perfect solution to my skin. I can’t believe that using mostly natural and soothing products helped my sensitive and inflamed skin revert back to its original splendor.
When I told Jamie about my regime, she said the solution for treating adult acne is consistency. You have to start a regime and stick with it! As long as you stick with it day in and day out, you will see results. Although I rarely do beauty posts, I really wanted to share my tips for healthy, glowing skin since my regimen is definitely better than any harsh treatment that I ever tried.
Here’s my regime:
I drink a full glass of water with 2 tablespoons of Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning \\ I wash my face with cool water and follow up with Mario Badescu A.H.A. & Ceramide Moisturizer \\ At the end of the day, I wash with Mario Badescu Acne Cleanser \\ I then follow up with Trader Joe’s Cleansing Pads which fights the acne with soothing, natural ingredients \\ Before bed, I apply Tarte Maracuja Oil which protects my skin and prevents wrinkles \\ For the nasty times of the month, I drink Skin Detox Tea for extra help!
