As any parent knows, we snap a lot of pictures of our babies. What we’re not very good at is turning those digital images into print photographs. I’ve finally gotten around to printing Harlee’s newborn images for our family – over a year later! I also promised myself that I would create a photo book every year for Harlee. The intention and idea are great, but I really am not the most creative as designing photo books. I love flipping through them, but I don’t like to sift through hundreds of pictures and then design an album. That’s where Penguin Albums steps in and like a fairy godmother solves all of these problems! They take all of those beautiful photos you have on your phone and turn those important memories into a beautiful custom album.
Penguin Albums works directly with customers as well as photographers. They worked with me one on one to help make photo selections, customize the album as well as designed each page of the album for me. I spent about 20 minutes and picked out my favorite pictures of Harlee – this was easy since I had already favorited pictures on my phone. I put them in a Dropbox folder and added in some of the favorites from our newborn session we shot when Harlee was just a couple of weeks old. From there, Leena with Penguin Albums sorted through the images and started creating the album. She designed each page and did such a great job of designing it so the images worked aesthetically and thematically. She also made sure there was a balance (my family and Alan’s family) were equally represented! Once she was done, she sent over a digital proof for me to review. It looked perfect so I didn’t have any edits. From there, I picked the leather cover color and embossing style and color. Unlike other albums, Penguin Albums have thick pages which won’t tear, wrinkle or get damaged over time.
Harlee loves to flip through it with me and loves to hear me tell her about every single picture. It’s a little heavy for her to pick up and bring to me like her other books, but she’ll say “Mama” and point to the album. That’s my cue to grab it and head over to her play area and start telling her the story of her first year! Use code “Vintage15” to get 15% off your album.

This looks like the perfect baby book. We are expecting our baby boy this November so this post was perfect timing! Thanks for sharing!
I love this idea! With my first child’s due date just a few weeks away, I am planning what I am going to do with the baby book!
